PAMALAKAYA demands ‘free mass testing’ for frontliners, PUI, and vulnerable sectors

Manila, Philippines – The national fishers group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipnas (PAMALAKAYA) on Sunday demanded a ‘free mass testing’ of frontliners, Persons Under Investigation (PUI), and vulnerable sectors to determine who are the infected for the corona virus disease (COVID-19) and to ultimately cure the pandemic virus.

The group’s call was after the Philippines received 100, 000 testing kits that add up to the remaining 2, 000 test kits.

“Frontliners such as health and medical worker, PUIs, and vulnerable sectors who are exposed and living in crowded communities should be prioritized in the free mass testing,” Fernando Hicap, PAMALAKAYA National Chairperson said in a statement.

“The government will not be able to contain the virus if those infected by the virus will not be recognized and would not undergo an adequate medical treatment,” added Hicap.

PAMALAKAYA said the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon is ‘futile if there is no comprehensive and systematic medical plan that would prevent the spread and cure those who are already infected by the disease’. ###
