The Solidarity Mission in Patungan Cove was against the land grabbing efforts of Maria Theresa Virata Corporation and conversion project of the late-business tycoon Henry Sy.
Sy’s real estate firm is planning to convert the 603-hectare fishing community into a private beach resort as an expansion to its Hamilo Coast Beach Resort located in Nasugbu, Batangas.

There are many historical events that took place right exactly at this place. And we can’t just let a private developer to walk in and take it all away from us; we will defend our community, our rights, and our dignity at all cost,”
