“China can’t just order its naval forces to shoot anyone that they consider as foreigners to the maritime waters that they illegally claim. This legislation would heighten the antagonistic approach of Chinese militias against Filipino fishers conducting economic activities within our own fishing grounds. It deserves a strong condemnation and defiance not only from the Filipino people but also from the people of the claimant countries of the South China Sea,” Salvador France, Secretary General of PAMALAKAYA said during the protest.

Against The Stream – Bacoor by artists from SAKA

Dubbed as “Against the Stream: a protest art exhibit for fisherfolk”, 12 visual artists created sail-shaped artworks depicting lives and struggle of Filipino fisherfolk; including Chinese aggression in the West Philippine Sea, reclamation of fishing grounds accompanied with demolition of fishing communities, and the fight against the fascist state.

Sa pagdedeklara ng DA na may kakulangan sa tilapia, nangangamba kaming maging batayan ito para mag-angkat. Sa importasyon, laging talo ang mga maliliit na mangingisda dahil lalong bumabagsak ang presyo ng produkto namin,” Ronnel Arambulo, PAMALAKAYA leader in Laguna de Bay said during the Bagsakan event.
